With over twenty years of experience teaching English at a comprehensive school for students aged 11-16, I’ve had the privilege of guiding children of all abilities through their learning journeys. Teaching has always been a balance of highs and lows—moments of triumph when a struggling student finally grasps a concept, and the challenges of working within the constraints of a large, mixed-ability classroom. Yet, through it all, my passion for both teaching and learning has never wavered.

In 2020, like many, I faced significant change. The shift to online teaching via Google Classroom, where I delivered five lessons a day to classes of 30, revealed the incredible potential of digital learning as a tool for personalized education.Inspired by this experience, I decided to take a step back from full-time classroom teaching to pursue an MA and launch Lisa McNee English Tuition. In August 2021, I left the classroom and fully embraced the world of private tutoring.

Since then, I have successfully tutored numerous students, with my very first student recently achieving outstanding A-level results in both English Literature and Language. I’ve also lectured on the Secondary PGCE course at Teesside University, taught Level 3 Functional Skills in English and Maths to gas engineer apprentices, and for the past three years, I have provided school-led tuition at a local high school one day a week. Additionally, I completed my MA in Creative Writing and Wellbeing with merit.
